Kurt Cobain

Well, here's your first music post from everyone's favorite Queen of Rock and Roll Jeopardy.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. For those who live in caves (or secret underworld lairs), Kurt Cobain was the lead singer of a little 'garage band' called Nirvana. After releasing only three albums, Kurt killed himself. He had apparently been suffering from gastrointestinal problems and depression, which then led to an addiction to drugs. Besides that, he went from having almost nothing to incredible celebrity and large amounts of money, and he didn't know how to handle it. And the celebrity and money represented everything he resented about music and the world at large. There's many conspiracy theories surrounding Kurt's death, but nothing changes the fact that he's gone.

Kurt died at 27, the same age as many of the country's beloved musicians. Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison all died at 27. All were incredibly talented musicians and songwriters that had their own issues, and burned out. One can only imagine what the music world would be like if they hadn't left us so young. If they had only realized that it's not better to burn out. Amazing people like those would never fade away.
