Prime let his guard down. Megs did NOT cheat. B'sides, Prime didn't get to be leader of the Autobots if he hadn't learned how to shoot the Decepticon *behind* the hostage. He could've killed Megs from behind Hot Rod if he'd tried.

If he took a shot with the possibility of injuring a hostage, then he wouldn't be Optimus Prime. :)

Which is why one wonders how the Autobots survived so long in a *WAR.* Of course, it's a good thing they did. If they hadn't, there wouldn't be G1, which would suck royally. But still, they weren't made soldiers. They must be very lucky. ;)
